Why Tetra Pak

What makes a package good packaging?
The most important function of packaging is to protect food from the point of manufacture up until the point it is consumed.

Tetra Pak packaging has many benefits:
For protection: Packages protect their contents from light, micro-organisms and air so that all that is good can stay good for many months, without any need for preservatives.
For longer shelf life: Good packages help preserve food and prolong its shelf life during storage, transportation and retailing.
For convenience: Packages provide convenience for consumers. Packages such as Tetra Pak cartons are lightweight and come in different sizes which are easy to hold and handle. Packages should also be easy to dispose of after consumption.
For communication: Packages carry important product information about ingredients, quantities, nutritional value, expiry dates and much more.

A good package must meet the requirements of protection, longer shelf life, convenience and communication. It should not only protect its contents well, but its production, storage and transport should also utilise minimum resources. Just as important, it should also protect the resources invested in its production and handling.

A good package saves raw materials, energy and the environment.

Tetra Pak's founder, Dr. Ruben Rausing, liked to remark that a package should save more than it costs. Today, this continues to be one of our key guiding principles.
