Aseptic technology comprises both processing and packaging. Tetra Pak's aseptic processing removes harmful micro-organisms from liquid foods
in a continuous stream under strictly controlled conditions, while its packaging systems package them into pre-sterillized containers in
an ultra-hygienic environment.
The process begins by "flash heating" the product, such as milk or juice,
in a Tetra Pak food processing module, then force-cooling it to room temperature, all in a matter of seconds. As the intense heating is very
short, any loss of nutrients is very minimal, while the original flavour and aroma are retained.
Tetra Pak's packaging system them provide the means of protecting the processed products throughout the distribution chain until they are consumed.
